The attack occurred at Belmarsh Prison, where Sharif reportedly suffered facial and bodily cuts requiring stitches, treated within the facility. A Prison Service spokesperson confirmed the assault is under police investigation, while Metropolitan Police reported the 43-year-old sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Irfan Sharif and his wife, Beinash Batool, received life sentences for the brutal abuse and murder of Sara Sharif. The court condemned their actions as “horrific torture” that caused Sara immense suffering.

Sara, who lived in Woking, Surrey, faced years of physical abuse, including burns and restraints, leading to her tragic death in August 2023. After her death, her father and stepmother fled to Pakistan with her five siblings.

On Tuesday, the Old Bailey sentenced Irfan Sharif to a minimum of 40 years and Beinash Batool to 33 years for Sara’s murder. Faisal Malik, Sara’s uncle, was convicted of contributing to her death and received a 16-year sentence.
