Kuwait City – Several US warplanes crashed in Kuwait on Monday morning, but all crew members survived, the Kuwaiti defence ministry confirmed. The cause of the crashes is currently under investigation.
A defence ministry spokesperson stated that search and rescue operations began immediately. The crews were evacuated and taken to hospitals for medical evaluation. Officials said their condition is stable.
The incidents occurred as Iran continued its third day of attacks in the Gulf. Sirens sounded across Kuwait following a series of missile and drone strikes in retaliation for previous US and Israeli operations. The attacks killed the supreme leader and other top officials.
Meanwhile, black smoke was seen rising from the US embassy in Kuwait City. The embassy issued a security alert, asking people not to visit the premises. “US Embassy personnel are sheltering in place,” the alert added. Authorities confirmed a continuing threat of missile and UAV attacks over Kuwait.
Kuwait’s interior ministry said it intercepted several drones targeting the country at dawn. The Iranian attacks have already killed five people across the Gulf, including one in Kuwait.
Residents and AFP correspondents reported hearing loud explosions in Gulf cities, including Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Doha, Manama, and Kuwait. The bombardment has affected both military bases and civilian areas. Residential buildings, hotels, airports, and seaports have all been impacted.
These attacks mark an unprecedented escalation in the Gulf region, long considered a hub of stability. The ongoing strikes have raised concerns over regional security and the safety of foreign missions, including US personnel stationed in Kuwait.
