The University of Health Sciences (UHS) has introduced a new evaluation and ranking system for affiliated institutions across Punjab. The system will assess performance of Medical Colleges, dental, nursing, pharmacy, and allied health sciences institutions.
The initiative aims to improve education standards and ensure better academic quality. Under the new system, Medical Colleges will be ranked annually based on multiple performance indicators. These include teaching quality, clinical training, assessment standards, faculty development, and research output.
Student support services will also play an important role in the ranking process. UHS stated that the goal is to promote healthy competition among Medical Colleges and improve overall learning outcomes for students.
The university will also conduct regular academic audits. These audits will check whether institutions are following approved curricula and maintaining required academic standards. Any gaps in performance will be identified for correction.
UHS Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ahsan Waheed Rathore said the initiative is designed to strengthen oversight. He added that it will help raise the quality of health sciences education across Punjab.
To support the system, the Department of Medical Education at UHS has been given responsibility for quality assurance. It will also monitor curriculum implementation and academic performance in Medical Colleges.
The university is also developing a real-time digital dashboard. This system will track key performance indicators of all affiliated institutions. It will help administrators monitor progress more efficiently.
Under the new policy, high-performing Medical Colleges may receive recognition and additional opportunities. These include research collaboration, faculty development programs, and academic partnerships.
On the other hand, institutions with poor performance will be placed under closer monitoring. They may also face corrective actions to improve academic standards.
The new framework has already come into effect. It applies to all affiliated and constituent institutions of UHS across Punjab.
