TikToker Mr Patlu has received protective bail from the Islamabad High Court (IHC) amid fears of a possible arrest. The court granted him temporary legal relief following concerns about his personal safety and ongoing proceedings.
Chief Justice Sardar Sarfraz Dogar approved Mr Patlu’s protective bail until November 10. He also directed the TikToker to approach the relevant court before the deadline. This will allow him to seek further legal relief through the appropriate legal channels.
The development comes after a deadly stampede during a controversial mehndi ceremony in Sialkot. The incident caused public outrage and triggered police action against the event organisers.
Mr Patlu Appears Before Islamabad High Court
Mr Patlu appeared before the Islamabad High Court in a wheelchair. His lawyer, Barrister Qasim Nawaz, accompanied him during the hearing.
During the proceedings, his legal counsel challenged the allegations linked to the organisation of the mehndi ceremony. The lawyer argued that the event was arranged after obtaining a formal No Objection Certificate (NOC).
According to the defence, the local administration was responsible for maintaining law and order. It was also responsible for ensuring public safety during the gathering.
The lawyer further claimed that Mr Patlu was not present at the venue when the stampede occurred. He said the TikToker was receiving medical treatment at a hospital at that time.
These arguments were presented before the court as part of the defence’s position.
Lawyer Raises Concerns About Possible Police Encounter
Another major issue raised during the hearing involved concerns about Mr Patlu’s personal safety.
His lawyer expressed fears that the TikToker could become a target of an alleged staged police encounter. The defence specifically mentioned the possible involvement of the Crime Control Department (CCD).
However, these concerns remain allegations raised by the defence. No judicial finding has established that such an encounter was being planned.
After hearing the arguments, the Islamabad High Court granted protective bail. The decision provides temporary relief and gives Mr Patlu time to approach the competent court.
The order does not mean that he has been acquitted. It also does not settle the allegations connected to the Sialkot incident.
Sialkot Mehndi Stampede Sparks Legal Controversy
The case is linked to a tragic crowd surge during Mr Patlu’s mehndi celebrations in Sialkot. The incident resulted in deaths and injuries, triggering widespread public concern.
The tragedy also raised serious questions about crowd management and security arrangements. Authorities faced questions about the responsibilities of event organisers and local administration.
Meanwhile, the defence maintains that the required permission was obtained before the ceremony. However, reports surrounding the incident have also raised questions about the event’s NOC status.
The competing claims have not yet been conclusively established in court.
Mr Patlu’s protective bail marks an important development in the ongoing legal proceedings. The next stage will depend on proceedings before the relevant court.
The investigation into the Sialkot stampede and the allegations surrounding the event remain important issues. Further legal proceedings are expected to clarify the responsibilities of those involved.
