Apple has acknowledged that some new iPhones may run warmer than expected and has identified a few issues causing this. One of the problems is a bug in the iOS 17 software, which will be addressed in an upcoming update.
Apple stated that the warmth issue might occur in the first few days after setting up or restoring the device due to increased background activity.

Additionally, recent updates to third-party apps have been causing them to overload the system. Apple is working with app developers to resolve this, and some fixes have already been rolled out, including one for Instagram.
It’s important to note that the upcoming iOS 17 bug fix will not reduce the iPhone’s performance to address the temperature concern. Apple also clarified that the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max are designed with improved heat dissipation thanks to their titanium shells, and overheating is not a safety or long-term performance risk.
