Jemima Goldsmith, the ex-wife of former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, has voiced serious concerns regarding his treatment in prison, emphasizing the need for his release or at least re-establishing contact between him and their sons. Reports indicate that Khan is currently being held in solitary confinement, cut off from family and legal visits, with his weekly calls to their sons, Sulaiman and Kasim, halted since September 10.
Goldsmith has highlighted alarming reports that Khan is enduring complete isolation without electricity in his cell. She has urged authorities to facilitate communication so that his family can ensure his safety during this troubling time.

This situation unfolds amid a broader crackdown on Khan’s political party, PTI, and its supporters. Recently, Khan’s sisters, Uzma and Aleema Khan, were arrested for participating in peaceful protests, and his nephew, Hassan Niazi, has been detained by military authorities since August.
Goldsmith’s appeal echoes a June report by the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention, which deemed Khan’s detention unlawful and called for his immediate release. As these events continue to unfold, concerns grow regarding the treatment of political figures in Pakistan.
