JEDDAH โ The government of Saudi Arabia has introduced strict new rules for the upcoming Hajj season. The Saudi Arabia authorities have warned against performing Hajj without official permission.
According to officials, the regulations will be in effect from April 18 until mid-June. These rules cover the entire peak Hajj period in Saudi Arabia. The aim is to ensure safety and proper management of pilgrims in holy cities.
The Ministry of Interior stated that individuals performing Hajj without a permit will face heavy fines. A penalty of up to SR20,000 will be imposed on violators. This includes people who try to enter restricted areas without approval.
The same fine will also apply to visit visa holders. Those attempting to stay in Makkah or perform Hajj illegally will face strict action. Authorities said Saudi Arabia is committed to maintaining order during the pilgrimage.
In addition, Saudi Arabia has announced harsher penalties for those who assist illegal pilgrims. These fines can reach up to SR100,000. This includes individuals who help by arranging visas, transport, or accommodation.
Providing shelter in hotels, apartments, or private homes for unauthorized pilgrims will also be punishable. Officials said these measures are necessary to prevent overcrowding and ensure safety.
The Ministry added that penalties may increase depending on the number of people involved. Repeat violations will also lead to stricter consequences. Saudi Arabia aims to stop all forms of illegal facilitation during Hajj.
Authorities emphasized that the new rules are designed to protect pilgrims. They also aim to improve crowd control and reduce risks in holy sites. Saudi Arabia has repeatedly updated regulations in recent years for better management of the pilgrimage.
