North Korea Tests AI-Driven Drones Under Kim Jong Un's Supervision

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has overseen the testing of new drones equipped with artificial intelligence, marking a significant leap in the country’s military advancements. According to the state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), Kim emphasized the importance of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and AI in North Korea’s military modernization plans.

The tests, conducted earlier this week, showcased various reconnaissance and suicide drones designed for tactical operations. These drones are reported to be capable of tracking strategic targets, monitoring enemy troop movements, and engaging both land and sea assets. Kim stressed the need for expanding the production capacity of unmanned systems and AI to maintain rapid development in modern warfare technology.

Photographs released by KCNA featured Kim inspecting a large unmanned reconnaissance aircraft, which appeared more substantial than typical fighter jets. He was also seen aboard an airborne early-warning aircraft, North Korea’s first of its kind, equipped with a radar dome similar to those used by South Korea. This advancement is seen as a significant boost to North Korea’s air defense capabilities.

In addition to drone technology, Kim was briefed on the latest developments in electronic warfare systems, including intelligence-gathering and electronic jamming technologies. The increasing focus on advanced military systems comes amid rising regional tensions and North Korea’s evolving strategic posture.
